Thank you for learning why I am the right candidate for the Coppell ISD Trustee position. I want to share my background and experiences to provide insight into my perspective and commitment to every teacher, student, and taxpayer.
I was raised in Myrtle Beach, SC, where I attended Horry County Schools from Myrtle Beach Primary to the Academy for the Arts, Science & Technology. My family has long been dedicated to service—building churches, advocating for change, and standing firm in our beliefs.
I’ve never expected anything to be handed to me; I believe in hard work and determination. If you know me, you understand I have a strong drive and a unique ability to connect with those around me.
My journey through school was challenging due to my dyslexia. I was held back in first grade and often labeled a troublemaker rather than receiving support. Isolated in special education classes, my experience was limited to coloring books instead of meaningful learning. Fortunately, my mother began advocating for me in fourth grade, which led to me finally being tested for dyslexia in fifth grade after Mrs. Wagner recognized my struggles.
By sixth grade, I wrote my name independently for the first time. By eleventh grade, I transitioned to an A/B student, discovering a genuine love for learning. I graduated with my class from Myrtle Beach High School in 1998.
I take great pride in my academic and personal achievements, including completing my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration this year. I plan to pursue an MBA next.
My motivation for running for the CISD Trustee position stems from my passion for ensuring everyone has a voice and feels valued. Having experienced the pain of being unheard, I am determined to advocate for the needs and aspirations of every teacher, student, and taxpayer.
Having successfully run four businesses and risen from humble beginnings, I understand the importance of hard work, facing adversity, and earning the respect of others.
I promise to keep my door open for anyone who wishes to share their thoughts and concerns. When it comes time to make decisions, I will prioritize what is right over what has been historically done. Together, we can build a compassionate community that truly invests in its schools and cultivates an environment where everyone can succeed.

Over the years, she made the decision to relocate to Texas not once, but three times, seeking new opportunities and experiences. After her various moves within the DFW, she has settled in Coppell, where she has enjoyed the vibrant community and sports for nearly five years
Sheri's diverse background equips her with valuable skills and a strong work ethic.

She prioritizes:
As our state legislature convenes for the session, we stand at a pivotal crossroads—an incredible opportunity to advocate for transformative policies that will elevate every taxpayer within Coppell ISD.
Reflecting on the past, the last significant increase in public school funding occurred during the 2019-20 biennium when Texas celebrated a remarkable $115 billion in tax revenue, showcasing our thriving economy. Today, we have the prospect of harnessing a staggering tax revenue of approximately $195 billion for the current biennium. It is essential that we utilize this extraordinary financial resource to enhance the quality of education in our schools, ensuring it does not remain dormant in state coffers.
I am committed to becoming a School Board member who is deeply engaged with our community. I understand that effective advocacy requires collective action. By uniting the voices of parents, educators, and students, we can create a powerful coalition. I am devoted to fostering an environment where everyone feels empowered to join these advocacy efforts. Together, we can shine a light on the essential needs of our schools and champion the resources required to provide every student with the high-quality education they deserve. Our united efforts will not only transform the educational experience but will also enrich the entire Coppell community.
Our School Board has a crucial responsibility to ensure that a significant portion of our tax dollars is effectively invested in the classroom. This investment is essential for making a meaningful difference in our students' educational experiences. To achieve this goal, we must concentrate our efforts on several critical areas.
A key element of our educational success is the recruitment and retention of passionate teachers who genuinely prioritize student success. These dedicated educators are foundational to our school system, and their commitment significantly influences both the academic performance and social development of our children. We must support our teachers through professional development opportunities, mentorship programs, and fair compensation, ensuring they feel valued and equipped to lead our students toward success.
With my extensive experience managing multiple companies, I bring a strategic and fiscally responsible approach to the Coppell ISD School Board. My goal is to weave fiscal responsibility into every aspect of our budgeting and planning. This involves creating clear, transparent processes for resource allocation and carefully monitoring expenditures to ensure that every financial decision aligns with our educational objectives. Furthermore, I will establish accountability measures at each level of the budgeting process, providing regular updates to the community so they can see how funds are being utilized.
To empower our schools effectively, I will ensure that we have a clear understanding of the financial break-even point for each school, which will help us maintain a sustainable budget and avoid deficits. By prioritizing these principles, we can develop a robust educational framework that maximizes every student’s potential and equips them with the skills and knowledge necessary for a bright future. Through collaboration and transparency, we can build a thriving educational environment that serves our students, teachers, and community effectively.
CISD frequently promotes itself as a destination school district, yet it seems that this year we have strayed from that vision. It is essential for us to revisit and embrace the core principles that define a destination school district.
A true destination district is one that actively supports and elevates every member of its school community, including educators, students, and caregivers. This support encompasses not only academic achievement but also the overall well-being and development of each individual. By fostering an environment of collaboration, respect, and encouragement, we can empower all stakeholders to reach their full potential.
When we successfully create such an inclusive atmosphere, we attract more talented educators and motivated students who are eager to be part of our community. Additionally, caregivers feel more inclined to engage with and invest in the district. This influx of passionate individuals contributes to a thriving educational environment, reinforcing our reputation and establishing a positive feedback loop where success breeds success.
Living in Coppell offers a charming small-town atmosphere that many families find appealing when raising children. The community is known for its friendly neighborhoods, well-maintained parks, and a strong sense of belonging. However, recent changes by the Coppell Independent School District (CISD) have raised concerns among residents. The district has decided to eliminate several popular programs, including gifted and talented curricula, which have been essential in supporting advanced students. Additionally, this year, there has been a shift in the placement of the International Baccalaureate (IB) and Dual Language Immersion (DLI) programs, further impacting educational opportunities.
These changes have led families and real estate agents to reconsider the advantages of living in Coppell. Many are now contemplating relocating to areas with lower tax rates and similar or even better educational programs for their children. For years, CISD was considered a top choice for families, as it provided diverse school programs that justified the higher tax rates residents willingly paid. With these recent adjustments, it is becoming increasingly important for parents to evaluate how these decisions will affect their children’s education and the community's overall appeal.
By voting for Sheri Hill, you can ensure your voice is heard. Sheri plans to ask the tough questions to keep every taxpayer informed.
Our teachers serve as the backbone of our school district, playing a pivotal role in guiding, educating, and inspiring every student who walks through our doors. It is essential for our School Board to take decisive action in crafting and implementing well-thought-out policies that prioritize comprehensive teacher training programs. These programs should focus on equipping educators with the latest teaching methodologies and tools necessary for fostering student engagement and success. Additionally, continuous professional development opportunities must be provided, allowing teachers to refine their skills and adapt to the evolving educational landscape. Retention strategies are equally critical; we need to create a supportive and enriching work environment that not only recognizes the hard work and dedication of our teachers but also offers competitive compensation, mentorship programs, and pathways for career advancement. By committing to these initiatives, we can cultivate a thriving educational community that uplifts both our educators and students alike.
